77,000 original mile Camaro stored for 30+ years

Someone got a deal on this true barn find 1967 Camaro RS. It sold on eBay recently for $9,472. Yes, I know the "barn find" term is used these days for just about any old car that has a layer of dust on it, but this one was honestly pulled out of an Ohio barn. It sat there for 30 plus years and only has 77,000 original miles on the odometer. Supposedly with a quick fluid flush, new starter and fresh battery she started up just fine.

The reason barn finds are so desirable is that they typically haven't been molested and modified. They're like time capsules just waiting for the right enthusiast to polish her up and turn back the hands of time. This one still has it's original (numbers matching) 327 cid small block and Powerglide automatic. The black vinyl top and Emerald Turquoise paint are faded for sure, but still original to the car. The only thing not original is the hood, for whatever reason.

World's roughest Camaro convertible!

As the owner aptly states, "this has got to be the world's roughest 1967 Camaro convertible!" There's so much metal cancer that the cowl & firewall have actually separated from the frame. It's missing the entire front clip, drive train, all body panels, glass interior and any semblance of what could be considered a floor. The story was it was wrecked in the front and then stripped of all it's useful parts.
Clearly there are some cars that are just not worth saving. To me this is one of those cars. What do you think?

Documented Indy 500 Pace Car Camaro

Now this would make a sweet project. It's a documented '69 Camaro Indy 500 Pace Car. This Z-11 convertible has the proper trim tag and VIN as well as the original protect-a-plate from when the car was first sold in March of 1970.

1969 was the 2nd time that the Camaro was the official Indy 300 Pace Car. There were 132 actual pace cars that did race related duty. But Chevy also produced 3,675 limited edition replica cars, which is what this one is. They were all SS/RS convertibles in Dover white paint with white top and custom white and orange hounds tooth interior. The orange theme carried over to the Hugger Orange Z28 style body stripes and large decals on both doors proclaiming these as "OFFICIAL PACE CAR".  Here's more info on the 1969 Indy 500 Camaros.

This Camaro had a 350 cid (300 hp) and turbo hydromatic auto transmission, as well as a 12 bolt posi-trac rear end. The body and frame are actually in decent condition and already media blasted by a previous owner. Some not so great sheet metal patching has been attempted on the floor pans, so that will have to be redone. The front clip is mostly repop panels, not original sheet metal. The convertible top looks to be mostly intact and ready for a new skin. Original front disc brakes are still there, but probably need a total overhaul like everything else.

This would make a really nice restoration project.

'67 Chevy Camaro Rally Sport

It's really a pity to see a great car like this abandoned and up on blocks. It's been stripped of so many of it's parts and then left out in the yard to rust. Floor boards, rear quarters and truck floor are all swiss cheese with cancer.

This particular Camaro looks like it started life as a nicely optioned muscle car. The RS (Rally Sport) was a trim package, not a performance package. It included special tail lights (not correct on this car), hidden headlights, exterior rocker trim and of course RS badges. (1967 was actually the only year that the RS badges were lower case, not upper case) Other options on this car included Powerglide automatic transmission, deluxe lighting package, walnut steering wheel, tinted windshield, console and deluxe seat belts. Original paint was Tahoe Turquoise with Turquoise interior. A pretty nice combo. It's really too bad so many of those original parts are missing. It would be a good restoration candidate otherwise.

This was originally a Lemans Blue car with white convertible top. It was only a 6 cylinder, but that's still no way to treat a convertible Muscle Car!

The floor boards have more holes then metal. And check out that trunk. You're not hiding any bodies in there. Except maybe field mice.

What a sad way to treat such a potentially great looking car.
