1969 Superbee 383

This isn't the super rare HEMI version, but SuperBee's are getting hard to find in any condition. This one was primed and put in storage for several years.

The photos make the body look like it's in pretty good shape, but the back half has quite a bit of rust. It needs lower quarter panels and a trunk floor at minimum. There may be some frame rust too since it's lived it's life in the South.

It no longer has it's original 383 High Performance engine or 727 automatic transmission, but it does have the Ramcharger hood w/ scoops which is worth a pretty penny. Other options included center console, bucket seats and Rally Dash complete with tick-tock tachometer.

"Found this one on Craigslist in Sarasota, Florida... I purchased it sight unseen except for a few pictures. I had it hauled to the house by Seven Star Transport... No motor, transmission. The rear end that was under it was held in place by chains to roll it around.

When it arrived I really was disappointed and the wife looked at me like I was crazy. After I put it on blocks I took time to look it over and started seeing a lot of work that was done by the last owner. The car was a shell and nothing more. After replacing the doors, hood, trunk and other body parts, I now have a rust free project. So far it's gone well and the parts are being located to put this one back to original except for the paint... It will stay Daytona Yellow. I think I can finish it up for a little under $7,000.00"

1964 Corvette - Barn Stored for 30 years

This '64 Vette was recently pulled out of storage after sitting for 30 years. It looks to be pretty much intact with the exception of some poor modification decisions by a previous owner. Luckily the original engine and transmission are still there, although the heads are long gone. But the block and intake are matching numbers, so that's a start.

Really the worst things about this car are the modifications by a previous owner. The fiberglass repair you see at the rear is where some hideous wing/spoiler thing was removed. The hood has been totally hacked up and is a disaster. It's like someone wanted to put stacks up through it or something. Or maybe some homegrown forced air induction system. Whatever the history it needs some expert patch work to be usable again.

1967 Fastback - Big Block Mustang

Now this is a pretty sad sight. It's a factory S code 390 Mustang fastback that's been wrecked hard in the rear and then hacked apart in the front.  1967 was the first year for a big block in the Ford Mustang. That coupled with the fastback body style makes this a very desirable muscle car.

It was probably T-boned and then set out with the idea of being repaired. But then parts started getting stripped off of it and now there's not much left to do anything with. Looks like it has a couple of other Mustang neighbors doomed to the same fate. Maybe some adventuresome body guy will tackle this one. Let's hope!

390 GT Fairlane project car

Here's a nice project for big block Ford fans. It's a 390 GT 1967 Fairlane with a few nice factory options including front disc brakes and bucket seats. Ford redesigned the Fairlane in 1967 and gave enough room between the front fenders to stuff the FE series big block. The 390 cid was the first big block and came as either a GT or GT-A (for automatic transmission). The GT package included heavy duty suspension, engine dress up parts, a GT hood and disc brakes.

This particular Fairlane 500 will need a lot of elbow grease to clean out and polish off the signs of decades sitting out in a Nebraska field. But it might not be quite as bad as it looks. There's sure to be rust, but it doesn't appear to be completely falling apart. The body panels are all in decent shape with no signs of a serious accident.  Hopefully someone will save this muscle car from the elements and get her back on the road soon.

Project Javelin gets a new home

The new owner of this 1970 Javelin hopes to get it back and running soon. It's an ambitious goal since so much of this muscle car is missing, but we applaud him for trying to bring it back. The previous owner got it for parts, but just felt there was too much of the car left to scrap it.

This Javelin started life with a 304 cid engine, automatic transmission and posi-traction rear end. Looks like there's not much left since the entire drive train is missing. Maybe the new owner will make a restomod or drag racer out of it.

The 1970 was a one year only design for the Javelin. Although not a drastic change from 1969, the front end got a facelift  to a "twin-venturi" grille and longer hood. The back end got new wider tail lights and center mounted backup light. Different vinyl roof options were available, from the full vinyl to the "halo" where only part of the roof was covered. In true 60's fashion you could also order the "Big Bad" paint package, which gave you a choice between neon blue, neon orange or neon green hues. You could probably get paisleys too if you pushed the dealer hard enough.

Rusty and stripped, but good restoration project

Here sits one of the all time classic muscle cars, a Boss 302 Mustang, but in pretty poor condition. It's a genuine G code Boss 302 car and has the VIN and Marti report to prove it. Unfortunately the most important parts of this car are missing, including the engine and transmission. This Mustang project car is missing pretty much all of the special Boss 302 specific items including the C stripes down the hood and side, rear window shades, front spoiler and rear deck wing. The rust really got the better of her as she sat year after year in the northeast Maine weather. Check out the bottom of the shock towers and the completely rusted through floor pans.

Originally a D code "Bright Yellow" car, this particular Boss 302 was nicely optioned with power steering, power brakes, Magnum 500 wheels, full tach and gauges and a 4.30 locking differential. The Boss 302 was one of the greatest looking muscle cars that Ford put out, but it wasn't just an appearance package. It also had the muscle to back up the name. Officially rated at 290 hp @ 4600 RPM, the special 302 small block was estimated to put out closer to 400 hp. A four speed manual (close or wide ratio) controlled the power to the rear Detroit "No-Spin" axles. To control all the horsepower in such a light frame the Boss 302 cars got suspension and brake upgrades as well; 11.3" diameter front disc brakes, heavy duty rear drums, special high rate springs and Gabriel staggered shocks, larger axle shafts and 9" nodular iron rear differential.

Picked up for $2000

A lucky car guy picked up this '67 Firebird for $2,000 recently at auction. It's got rust in the usual places, but overall pretty solid. The frame rails and trunk are in particularly good shape considering how long it's been sitting out in the South.

In the plus column it has a factory hood mounted tachometer, scoop hood, factory tilt steering column and reasonably solid body. Now for the bad; the engine and transmission are long gone. It's not like it was some super rare 400 cid Ram Air or anything, but it's always nice to have the original engine for restoration. Also, this Firebird looks like it was the victim of a typical 1980's restomod attempt. Check out the flared rear fenders and the plexiglass sunroof. Like, gag me with a spoon.

Shelby GT-500 KR sitting since 1975?

Isn't it every car guy's dream to find some old forgotten barn somewhere, pull a tarp back and find a jewel like this? A 1968 Shelby GT-500 KR convertible would make the ultimate barn find! But alas, this one isn't real. Well, it's a real barn find, but not a real Shelby.

This 1968 Mustang convertible started life as a 6 cylinder 3 speed car. It was only 5 years off the assembly line when the original owner started converting it into a Shelby clone race car in 1973. He died a few years later and the car has just been sitting rusting away since 1975. The conversion was only half finished, but most of the parts were there. And the cool part is they were all NOS parts directly from Ford in the early 70's. These real Shelby parts might be worth more than the car at this point!  NOS parts include fog light supports, headlight buckets, fiberglass side scoops, tail light panels, rear quarter end caps, front fenders and GT rear valance.

It even still has two original warranty cards that were in the glove box showing last registration in 1972. Talk about a time capsule! This is a great barn find Mustang, even without being a real Shelby.

400 cid Pontiac project car

This Firebird closed with zero bids on eBay recently. Probably because the seller had his reserve set at a ridiculous $15,000. Yes it's a convertible Firebird and a desirable year at that, but there's still a ton of work to do on this car. The sales pitch was that it just needed "a good power wash" and that "with a paint job and minor repairs you'd have a $30,000 car!" Yeah, right. If it was that easy then why doesn't the seller do it and rake in the cash?

The body does look to be in decent shape without much rust. All the major body panels appear solid and without significant dents or wrinkles. Just a little surface rust, which hopefully hasn't creeped any deeper. The convertible top is missing several key pieces, but otherwise most of the parts seem to be intact. The 400 cid motor has been rebuilt, but not yet driven. Depending on how long ago that was there could still be quite a few bugs to work out of that drivetrain. Hopefully the seller comes to his senses on the price and someone can buy this project and get her back on the road again soon.
