1966 Shelby GT-350H Clone

Replica made from a real wrecked Shelby
Shelby clones are a dime a dozen, but this one is a little different. This replica was made back in the early 70’s with all the parts coming from a true 1966 Shelby that had been totaled. Not that it’s worth approaches that of a true Shelby, but those parts alone are worth quite a sum.
What’s even more unusual is that this wasn’t just a run of the mill 1966 Mustang fastback to begin with. It’s a true factory GT with a 289 4 bbl mated to a 4 speed manual transmission. The original color was Raven Black with a black deluxe Pony Interior. So even if you sold off all the valuable Shelby parts you’d still have a real GT fastback totally worth restoring.
Of course restoring it won’t be a simple task. It’s been sitting in the weather way too long and has developed some sheet metal cancer. In addition to the surface rust, which isn’t inconsiderable, there are also several spots that are totally rusted through. The floor pans and trunk areas are the worst and the cowl leaks like a sieve. But much less valuable Mustangs with much worse rust problems have been brought back to life. This ‘66 GT really could be a great restoration with a unique history to talk about at car shows.
