Documented Indy 500 Pace Car Camaro

Now this would make a sweet project. It's a documented '69 Camaro Indy 500 Pace Car. This Z-11 convertible has the proper trim tag and VIN as well as the original protect-a-plate from when the car was first sold in March of 1970.

1969 was the 2nd time that the Camaro was the official Indy 300 Pace Car. There were 132 actual pace cars that did race related duty. But Chevy also produced 3,675 limited edition replica cars, which is what this one is. They were all SS/RS convertibles in Dover white paint with white top and custom white and orange hounds tooth interior. The orange theme carried over to the Hugger Orange Z28 style body stripes and large decals on both doors proclaiming these as "OFFICIAL PACE CAR". Here's more info on the 1969 Indy 500 Camaros.

This Camaro had a 350 cid (300 hp) and turbo hydromatic auto transmission, as well as a 12 bolt posi-trac rear end. The body and frame are actually in decent condition and already media blasted by a previous owner. Some not so great sheet metal patching has been attempted on the floor pans, so that will have to be redone. The front clip is mostly repop panels, not original sheet metal. The convertible top looks to be mostly intact and ready for a new skin. Original front disc brakes are still there, but probably need a total overhaul like everything else.

This would make a really nice restoration project.
